With the holidays coming up, it is the perfect time to incorporate a festive winter fruit: cranberries. Besides being tart and tasty, cranberries offer a multitude of health benefits as well. Luckily, they are easily incorporated into sauces and drinks, or dried and added to stuffing, salad or dessert.

Though winter is known for cranberries because it is their in season time, cranberries should be enjoyed year round if only for their health benefits. They pack a punch of antioxidants, play a role in digestive tract support, are known as anti-cancer agents (specifically for breast, colon, lung, and prostate cancer), increase cardiovascular health, improve immune system functions, and provide anti-inflammatory benefits. With all of these benefits, it is safe to call the little cranberry a super fruit.

Enough about the health benefits--cranberries are a well-known part of holiday feasts, and for a great reason. Fresh cranberries can be easily made into yummy sauces, desserts, or snacked on as-is. They can also be dried and snacked on, and what would a stuffing at Thanksgiving be without the dried cranberries? Cranberry juice is refreshing and often low in sugar and calories. Some food companies even make delectable treats with cranberries, such as coating them in dark chocolate for a double antioxidant kick. As for desserts, the sky is the limit with options such as chocolate-cranberry cheesecake, mixed berry crumble, cranberry tarts, fluffy cranberry mousse, or cranberry strudel rolls.
